Careers and Opportunities
The opportunities are almost limitless, as evidenced by a placement rate for graduates of nearly 100 percent.
Recent CWU Construction Management graduates have found employment with local, national and international construction firms; with design firms; and material equipment suppliers. Others are currently working for public agencies, performing inspection, supervision and contract administration duties. Starting salaries range from $65,000 to over $70,000. Opportunities for advancement are also excellent, as Central's graduates are well prepared to meet the challenges of today's construction industry.

Our program positions you for employment opportunities with local, national and international construction firms, design firms, and material equipment suppliers. Many alumni are working for commercial, civil and heavy/highway, industrial and specialty contractors in various locations. The opportunities are almost limitless, as evidenced by a placement rate for graduates of nearly 100 percent. Position titles for recent graduates include:
- Estimators
- Project Engineers
- Assistant Project Managers
- Project Coordinators
- Project Administrators

Student Groups
Additionally, students are strongly encouraged to become involved with any of the student chapters represented by the CMGT program:
- Mechanical Contractors Association (MCA) Chapter: This is the student chapter of the MCA of America and is sponsored by the MCA of Western Washington. The chapter's activities include field trips, community service projects and hosting guest speakers at chapter meetings. Annual scholarships are also available to members of this organization. The chapter membership is open to any student with interest in the mechanical industry. Professor Martin serves as the faculty advisor.
- The Association of Construction Managers: This is the student chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and is sponsored by the AGC of Washington. The club's activities include field trips, community service projects and hosting guest speakers at chapter meetings. The student chapter also sponsors a welcome back barbeque at the beginning of fall quarter. Annual scholarships are also available to members of this organization. Professor Plugge serves as the faculty advisor.
- Sigma Lambda Chi: This is a national honor society for Construction Management students. Each spring prospective members are invited to join, based on their academic record. This club's activities include a community service project. Professor Plugge serves as the faculty advisor.
